Drink Wine for Your Health!
Wine is a healthy habit. And even though you might be thinking “what on earth is she talking about now”, I’ve got research to back me up. Some of it is even from legitimate medical studies.
If you really want to get into the details (yawn), just Google “wine health benefits”. You’ll find enough sites to keep you busy for a while.
Meanwhile, these are the stats I’m hanging onto:
- Wine has no cholesterol
- It’s fat-free
- It’s good for your cardiovascular health
- It’s shown some anti-aging capabilities
- It looks like it might help prevent cancer, ulcers and strokes
- And, it’s the best darn stress-reducer I’ve ever run across. Well, OK, one of the best.
A glass of champagne contains about 75 calories and 12% alcohol. Red wine contains 75 calories and is also about 12% alcohol. White wine contains 70 calories and also contains about 12% alcohol. Note – I say “about”. Different wines vary in alcohol content, and this affects the calories. More alcohol equals more calories. (Wouldn’t you know?).
If you drink white wine - you’re saving a few calories. If you drink red wine you’re protecting your heart with the antioxidants found in red grapes. If you drink champagne, you’re celebrating.
You really can’t lose!
What to do about the extra calories you’re taking in? Adding time to your workout can help. Eating less and choosing healthy options can’t hurt. And, jogging to the bar does wonders. So, put down that can of soda and dream of the scrumptious glass of wine you could have instead!
Wine really does a body good. (Okay, in moderation).
Cheers!
