St. Paddy’s Day
Kiss me I’m Irish! I’m not really but that won’t stop me from trying. It’s St. Patrick’s Day Eve and I have one word of advice: step away from the green beer!
Honestly, some things are fun to dye green: like mashed potatoes, jello, and of course your hair. But some things should be left alone - like beer. It’s just weird and it makes you pee green, which will not bring sexy back.
St. Patrick was most famous for driving the snakes out of Ireland. But history tells us the continent was separated from the mainland after the Ice Age so there were probably no snakes in the first place. It sounds like St. Paddy liked a drink or two and might have told tall tales. Whatever the reason St. Patrick got a holiday named after himself and it’s celebrated March 17 which was the date of his death. In Ireland most business are closed on St. Patrick’s Day except the Pubs of course.
This year stick with the wine family (one of my favorite families) and celebrate with an Irish version of Sangria. Grab your shamrocks, and mix up a batch of Lucky Leprechaun Wine Punch. It will have you dancing an Irish jig in no time.
You will need:
- St. Paddy’s Day
- 1 Lemon cut into wedges
- 2 Oranges cut into wedges
- 1-2 Apricots cut into wedges (may also use frozen apricots or peaches)
- 1/2 Cup sugar
- 1-2 Shots of Irish Whiskey
Pour the wine in a pitcher and squeeze in the juice from the lemons and oranges. Then toss in the wedges. Add the apricot pieces sugar and whiskey. Chill overnight. Add club soda, ginger ale or lemon- lime soda just before serving to all your favorite Leprechauns.
To insure the Luck-o-the-Irish, stick some mini Irish flags into the floating fruit.
Happy St. Patrick’s day and bottom’s up!
