Chateau Costco

When you go to Costco to buy those gigantic tubs of cottage cheese, salmon slabs for a party of 19 and 13 boxes of mac-n-cheese, have you ever checked out the wine department? You probably wouldn’t be surprised to find bulk wine available, but now Costco is the place to buy wine of all types!

I’m not kidding. It’s worth the 20 mile walk from where ever you have to park your car. Not only does Costco have a HUGE selection of wine, they sell over $800 million dollars of wine each year. The best thing about buying wine at Costco is they provide great information as well as great prices. They post information sheets for all the wines they sell (yes,even the $5.99 bottles of wine.)

Along with the price, the info sheets will provide you with:

• The name of the winery
• The varietal (type of wine),
• The region where those tasty grapes were grown and grew up to be wine
• A short and very helpful description of the flavors and aromas in the wine
• Ratings from respected sources like the Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and Wine Advocate.

As an added bonus, Costco tends to beat out prices at grocery stores and even wine shops. And with all that extra money you’re saving, you can buy some tasty treats to accompany your wine for your next happy hour or dinner party. It’s one-stop shopping.

If you’re like me, you'll feel like a kid in a candy shop. The wine angels at Costco have done the research for you and all you have do is decide what wine you want. I have made it my personal goal to try a new bottle every time I go. I copy down the Costco notes so when I’m drinking the wine, I can review their information.
